The book stands out for its inventive interplay between text, design, and illustration. Inspired by the double meaning of the word canto in Portuguese, the titles of the poems appear in different corners of each page, turning the book itself into a visual game. Award-winning illustrator Edson Ikê enhances the reading experience with bold compositions, a striking color palette, and imagery that expands the poems’ meanings, often creating additional stories and unexpected connections between characters and scenes.

Rooted in Brazil’s rich tradition of poetry for children while offering a contemporary voice, One Corner for Each Animal combines literary quality, visual sophistication, and humor in a way that invites repeated reading and discovery.
