Wetland is a wordless book that presents the passage of time and the daily life of a riverside community in the heart of the Pantanal, the largest floodplain on the planet. There, the distances are enormous, journeys are almost always made by boat, and students return home only on weekends and during school breaks. The transformation of the landscape affects the lives of the inhabitants: the water rises, the plains flood, and many families are isolated, in a silent dialogue with nature. This book tells the story of two friends experiencing the rhythm of the water during their vacation. While the river is not flooding, they play outside with their friends, and the adults do outdoor activities. During the flood, everyone stays at home. When the river water finally recedes, the children return to school and the families can spend time together again.
