About the book

In the first person, the narrator tells the story of Benny, his older brother with a disability, who invented “symbol-gestures” to communicate with the world and people. The text, written by award-winning Jacques Fux, describes Benny’s experiences from a positive perspective, in which his individuality and creative and affective potential are valued, without presenting his disability as a limiting factor. All aspects of the book were designed to facilitate and clarify reading/learning, thus ensuring the accessibility of the book. Right at the beginning of the story, there is an audiovisual QR Code, with narration of the text, self-description of the images and translation into Libras. The graphic design presents a summary of the narrative and a gallery introducing the characters.        In the illustrations by Lalan Bessoni, all the scenes were designed to reinforce the central ideas of the text, while being composed of simpler lines and colors, with few elements to avoid distractions during reading.
